At Tailored Home, we aim to provide the highest level of custom furniture and workroom services in our region, all from our studio in Norwalk, Connecticut.

Every custom design starts with an in-depth consultation. Furniture should reflect the soul of its owners, responding to what they love, how they live, and their aesthetics. In pursuit of that goal, we welcome homeowners, designers, and members of the design press to our showrooms in Westport and Greenwich as well as to our Materials Library, a resource unique to our area that offers myriad possibilities for fabrics, whether crafted for performance (alongside kids, pets, and busy families) or created as works of art.

Following these consultations, our custom furniture is produced in our Connecticut workroom, a process that incorporates the work of as many as a dozen skilled collaborators, from designers and carpenters to painters and upholsterers. Each design makes use of locally sourced materials, such as kiln-dried hard maple from Massachusetts, known for its strength and longevity.

Many of the materials for our upholstered pieces come to us from exceptional vendors in Connecticut: cotton, twine, burlap, and more. Our upholsterers, working on site, incorporate premium eight-way hand-tied springs, in which each spring is tied in eight opposing directions for maximum comfort and durability. We prize the use of these time-honored techniques, methods that have largely disappeared from modern manufacturing but that are central to our work.

Here at Tailored Home, our work is a mirror to the environment that surrounds us: the woods in our furniture sustainably harvested from our forests, and the fabrics inspired by our landscapes. We are committed to local — materials, practices, vendors, and collaborators — all uniquely reflective of this beautiful place we’ve chosen to call home.
